Works of Charity
The mission of the charitable offices, agencies, and programs of the Archdiocese is to respond efficiently and compassionately to the Lord's injunction that we feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for the sick, welcome the stranger, and visit the imprisoned. Accordingly, the staff of Catholic Charities, in cooperation with the Family Life/Respect Life Office, the Hispanic Apostolate, and the Office of Black Ministries, works tirelessly to serve all in our community who are truly in need. To assist in doing this, the Cardinal's Appeal reserves $1.5 million to provide meals for individuals and families, guidance and care for mothers and children, housing for the homeless, assistance to the disabled, professional counseling to the psychologically afflicted, and a host of other works of mercy and kindness for our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ.
